Welcome to the Yamhill County Online Marriage Application System
Due to the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19), the process for getting a marriage license has changed.
After you have submitted your application, please call (503) 434-7518 to make an appointment to come in and purchase your license.
Congratulations on your decision to get married! Completing the process for your marriage license can be done in three easy steps:
Complete this online application (make sure to fill out all fields) and click the Finish button when done.
Both parties must come into the Yamhill County Clerk’s Office to show your proof of identity and pay for the license.
After the marriage ceremony is done, your officiant is responsible to return the license to our office within 5 days so it can be recorded.
$50.00 license fee is non-refundable.
You must meet these requirements in order to be considered eligible to apply for a marriage license. Blood tests and medical exams are not required.
Legal age for marriage in the State of Oregon for both applicants is 18 years-of-age.
A seventeen-year-old can be married if the parent or guardian gives consent. The parent or guardian must complete a Parental Consent for Marriage of a Minor form at the time the applicants apply for their marriage license.
Anyone not yet 17 years of age cannot be legally married in the State of Oregon.
Applicants cannot be first cousins or nearer kin.
A license can be issued one day after the final date of a divorce. If you were previously married, you’ll need the date of your divorce to complete the application.
Licenses may be obtained in any county in Oregon, and can only be used in the State of Oregon.
No extensions of time or refunds of money are made once the license is issued.
There is a three-day waiting period from the day the license is purchased until it can be used.
If you wish to use the marriage license immediately, you must request a waiver of the three-day waiting period.
A fee of $20.00 will apply.
Once the license is effective, it is valid for a 60-day period.
Once the marriage has taken place, and the completed marriage license is returned to the County Clerk, an official certified copy of the license can be obtained from the County Clerk upon request for
$7.50, and $3.75 for each additional certified copy.
The certified copy is considered the legal copy and can be used by the applicants to prove they were married as well as change their name on items like a driver's license, social security card, or passport.
A decorative marriage certificate will be provided. This is not a legal document and may not be used as proof of marriage. If an issued license is lost or destroyed, it can be replaced at the County Clerk’s office for an additional $10.00 fee
for the license and $4.75 for the decorative certificate.
